An award winning laser animation studio
LaserLair animates laser graphics: figures, story sequences, typography and logos, built for Pangolin BEYOND and QuickShow and tested on real hardware. Not beam shows. If a job needs both, I animate the graphics and work alongside whoever programs the beams.

The most common questions
Commissioned work
What kind of laser content do you make?
Graphics animation of every kind: narrative dome and planetarium shows, character animation, typography, abstract sequences, client logos and premade packs. What I don't do is beam programming.
Can you program the beam effects too?
No. Only graphics and animation. On shows that need both I am comfortable working inside someone else's show file.
I only have a JPG. Is that a problem?
No. I can redraw it from scratch.
Do you need our hardware to build the content?
No, but its good to know: scan rate, scan angle, and projector count. Content can be verified on site for installations where the budget allows.
Files and playback
Which files do I receive?
Native Pangolin files: QS/BEYOND frames, a BEYOND workspace item or a QuickShow-ready cue. Animated work includes an MP4 preview for client approval.
Will it run on my scanners?
Tell me your points per second and I tune the point count to it. 30k is the standard default, if yours are slower just let me know. Shop packs are built with as low point count as possible and able to layer multiple to fit any scanners ability.

What exactly do I download?
A .qsbframes file that loads straight into BEYOND or QuickShow. Most cues come with Z data so you can customize them without editing frames.
Do you offer refunds?
Digital files can't be returned, so every pack has a preview video showing the whole contents, and there are free packs you can test first. If a pack doesn't match its preview, tell me and I'll refund it.
Can you customize a pack?
Yes absolutely, just reach out and we can discus price and scope.
Time, money and rights
What are realistic lead times?
A branded sequence takes two to three weeks. A dome segment takes four to six. A complete show takes three to five months including approvals. If deadlines are tight, tell me and we will try to work something out.
How fast can you go if I'm already late?
A Trace in 24 hours, a Reveal in 48, priced at +100%. Try out the free Laser Tracer if you're in a real pinch.
Who owns the finished work?
For commissioned work you get a permanent, exclusive license: unlimited performances, any venue you operate, and marketing use, with no expiry, no renewals and no per-performance fees. Exclusive means your piece is never resold to anyone else. I keep the source files so the work can be maintained and updated, and the right to show it in my portfolio, which is the one clause that comes out under NDA. Full ownership transfer is available, so ask at quote stage rather than after. Shop packs are licensed differently, since they are sold to more than one buyer.
Can you work to a procurement process?
Yes. I can supply company details, insurance information, references and a fixed-scope quote in whatever format your finance department needs, and invoice on 30-day terms.
